This copy of the book represents the
finest impression possible, showing
spectacular 'mica' effects (see picture
details of some of the pages).
title changed to:
Gyokai fu
('The Fish and Shell Album')
slightly later, still w/h poems,
but poets' names removed;
dated: 1802; lost title slip replaced
later, carrying a false title: that of
the 1813 edition as in the sample at right.
title changed to:
Gyokai ryakuga-shiki
('Fishes and Shells in the
Abbreviated Style of Drawing')
dated: 1813, but printed in the
1830s or later, all poems removed
