An Okubi-e ('Large-head portrait print') of the actor Bandô Mitsugorô V (1811-1855), - an onnagata actor (actor impersonating female roles) of unusal beauty, who, - for most of his career, - was known as Bandô Shûka. He made an exceptionally popular team with Ichikawa Danjûrô VIII (1823-1854). He died rather young and received the name of Mitsugorô posthumously.
