Japanese title: "Provence no ichiba". - The print depicts a typical market scene in a small town in southern France. The trees cast dappled shadows on the apartment walls and on parasols of the merchants' booths at the local market. The nearby residents, carrying shopping bags, are strolling and looking at the fresh fruits and vegitables in a fine morning. Osamu Sugiyama is specialized in woodblock prints depicting mountain scenes of Japan, Nepal and Europe. The artist is a passionate mountaineer himself and shows us what he experienced during his hiking tours all over the world. - Print no. # 9 from a limited edition of eighty impressions.
