This print is from Torii KOTONDO's series: Twelve aspects of women, entitled: 'Hazy Spring' (Oboru haru), - A beauty is looking at the hazy moon. Cherry petals are falling around her.
The alluring bijin ('Beautiful women') prints of the Shin hanga period (c. 1900-1950) have been the highlight of the Japanese woodblock print making tradition. Many of the originals from the period sell for prices over $ 4,000 today.
