"Kagoshima Shinbun: Ueki Eki Sen no Zu" (Kagoshima Newspaper: Picture of the Battle at Ueki Station). Warriors of the Kagoshima Rebellion are battling against the government force at Ueki station.
After the decisive loss at the Battle of Tabaruzaka (from March 3- 20, 1877), the samurai rebels led by SAIGO Takamori retreated to Ueki, where they were again forced to withdraw. The Kagoshima (Satsuma) Rebellion was ultimately concluded with the Battle of Shiroyama in September 1877.

He was born under the real name of Adachi Heishichi. Ginko studied with the Western-style painter Goseda Horyu I. Ginko made designs for prints of the Boshin rebellion in 1870.
