| Choki stands out in the history of ukiyo-e as one of the great designers of 
                     ukiyo-e, equal, if not superior to his contemporary, Utamaro. His output,
                     though, was much smaller in number and only a few pillar prints are recorded. -
                     Between 1781 and 1809 he signed his prints 'Shiko'. Reference: Pins, Japanese Pillar Prints, no. 846 shows another (somewhat trimmed) impression of this design by Choki. |
